Mike Vance started earning his living as a stand up comedian and voice actor right out of the University of Texas, in the days when phones still had cords. For 16 years, he toured 43 states and seven countries telling jokes, and later, he fronted the band The PC Cowboys singing original material. John Swasey was the guitar player and co-writer of many of the songs. Somewhere in there, Mike also hosted two Houston TV shows and did afternoon drive on local Houston radio. He has produced well over 100 award-winning feature length documentaries, short films and television shows on a variety of Texas and Houston history stories. Vance is also the author of six books on sports, Houston history or a combination of both. His most recent book is Mud & Money: A Timeline of Houston History.
